From an estate sale this is an exquisite, beautifully detailed, Nippon vase. This vase was done in pastels with the dominant flowers and leaves in deeper colors, and has a beautiful matted finish. These vases were only as good as the artist who did the painting, and this artist was obviously very talented! (Please scroll down for more pic's.) There is beautiful gold trimming around the major flowers and a small amount of beaded gold under the rim. The vase does have four vertical indentions, banana fashion, around it. It stands approximately 7 inches tall and is approximatley 4 and 1/2 inches across the widest point. In very good condition for its age, there are no nicks, chips, cracks or repairs and it displays beautifully! The bottom is marked with a "M" inside a wreath, and above this reads "Hand Painted", and below "NIPPON", which I believe dates this to the early l900's.
