This lens model is one highly-prized Nikkor. Nikon pulled out all the stops in designing this lens, and the result is a beautiful, sharp, fast wideangle.
This example, serial number 475784, is the last version (AI-S) produced. It shows signs of light use. There are some scars where a previous owner (unfortunately) used pliers to remove a stuck filter, which I repainted for my use but you can still see them in the last photo. Letters and numbers are clean and bright.
Mechanically excellent. Focus ring turns smoothly and is well damped, aperture ring turns smoothly with good click stops, and the aperture is clean, dry, and snappy.
Optically excellent. All elements are clean and clear, no scratches, haze, dust, or fungus.
Comes with genuine Nikon front and rear caps shown in photos.
My thoughts on starting bid, reserve price, and Buy-It-Now -- first, if I have a Buy-It-Now price I truly hope someone will find it attractive and use it. That means I look at recent sales and set a price near the top end of what I expect to get in a straight auction. I don't like reserve prices the way they work on eBay and I don't use them. It's not like a live auction where the bidders don't know whether there is a reserve, and the auctioneer has great leeway to stimulate bidding and build the price. I figure if an eBay seller has an absolute minimum acceptable price, that should be the starting bid and let it go where it may. So my starting prices are low but not ridiculous. Why am I saying all this? If you like my item but don't want to pay the Buy-It-Now price, I ask that you put it in your watch list and hold your bids until there are less than 2 days left. Someone else might have liked the Buy-It-Now price, but in a no-reserve listing the first bid removes the Buy-It-Now option. Of course I can't enforce this (and wouldn't anyway), but I ask this as a courtesy.
International bidders, be advised that I will NOT declare this item as a gift, and it will be declared at the final bid value on Customs forms. Yes, I know this may cost you much more for import duties, taxes, and fees. No, I won't change this policy for you so please don't ask. Also, due to previous bad experiences, shipments to Italy MUST be insured.
