I would like to start off saying that art is not my area and I can only describe what I know and or see about this wonderful oil painting. So please, only serious buyers, ask all your questions before bidding.
This is a vintage 1917 signed winter scene done by a listed artist, Henry Leopold Richter. It is signed and dated on the left bottom corner. I feel that the condition is very good, no holes or other damage, but there is crazing. It is marked on the back, clean and varnish 8-5-86. There is also a label on the bottom backside of the frame, The Atelier, San Francisco, my guess is this was the company that put on the current frame, which I feel could be from the 50s-60s. The frame is a silver tone and ornate. There is a very pale blue velvety fabric between the inside edge of the frame and the painting, that is 2-1/4" wide, and shows some wear. If the winner does not want the frame, we can remove the oil and the shipping will be less. The artist is best known for his desert scenes, so this may be a rare oil by Mr Richter. The oil reminds me of the Sierras here in Northern California during the winter. I would also say that the picture might need to be cleaned, some of the snow has a light yellow color. The charming oil painting is 20" by 27" without the frame. The frame is 25-3/4" by 33". This will be sold as is due to the age, no refunds.
